1st. PRICE WINNER
in the competition AARHUSH
- by Godsbanen/Aarhus minicipality and HUSET Aarhus.
The table is designed in collaboration with Mette Risbæk.
Rules of the competition was to design a coffechair or table for the new institution of culture "Godsbanen" in Aarhus. The design had to concider environmental aspects, the possebilities of mass production and hard wear.
In the first round we were chosen as 1 of 10 finalist. Thereby we had a week to produce a prototype of the table for the final judging in april 1st. At the moment the table might go into production.
THE IDEA
The concept of the table was to create it so it would fit in with the old train halls at Godsbanen as well as fit to a modern home and lifestyle.
Our startingpoint was to re-use old wood for the table and sample it with new coloured steel, to create a contrast between old and new - just as the situation is for Godsbanens future.
The table is thought as a two person table, and can be adjusted from a regular 75-80 centimeter high table to a bar table at 105 cm, by using a very simple mechanism.
Like that it would be easy to adjust the table for different occasions and events.
At one end of the table there is a rectangular milling, for creative purpose - use it for what you like, for example to throw dices in, place your cutlery or anything else.
